When I click a link in an email (on Gmail), Firefox tries to open a new tab, then shuts it down.
I utilize Google Mail for my primary e-mail address. Up until this morning, if I clicked on a link in an email, Firefox would open that link in a new tab. Great!
But just now, after hours of surfing already today, I tried, and Firefox tried to open a new tab, then just as quickly shut it down. Problem is, I haven't changed any settings in Firefox, or my antivirus or Windows.
What gives??

Hmm, why would that happen? Does it work any better if you:
- right-click the link > Open Link in New Tab
- right-click the link > Open Link in New Window
- right-click the link > Open Link in New Private Window
One possible reason for a page to be closed is if an aggressive content blocker dislikes the address, for example, a link in a newsletter that goes through a marketing company server. Can you think of any add-ons that might have such a feature, or do you have a supplemental pop-up blocker?
If I right click to open in new tab or window, yes, it works (never tried the private window, as I'm the only user of this computer).
No supplemental pop-up blocker, and the links tried were both pretty tame (Best Buy and Newegg e-mails).

Similar, but on a Mac.
Also noticed, that any other site, I can click on a link, and it behaves as normal. Will try contacting Google, if this persists.
....and now, it works! Reboot of the OS seems to have finally killed the little @#^#$&!! gremlin in the works!
Thanks for your assistance!
