Before releasing an update to Firefox, wouldn't it be helpful to make sure that add-ons will work with it?

Was "blessed" with an update to Firefox this morning. It promised to be much faster. It's not "much faster." In some ways, it's slower. And my add-ons were gone... not compatible. I managed to find a replacement for only one. I rely on these shortcuts to access important websites. I have early stage Alzheimer's, so things are difficult enough. You've just made it much harder. Thanks for nothing.

Hello, Add-on developers were given a 2 years !! notice that add-on technology was changing, new APIs are still being worked on, most of your add-ons will be ported very soon, to find replacements for those you cannot live without use this handy website: https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/

If this solved your problem, please mark as solution!

Yeah, I loved Mozilla's solution to "find a replacement" for the add-ons that don't work. Instead of taking me to something related to the one I am seeking a replacement for, it takes me to a list of all the "popular" ones. I managed to find one for Facebook and one for my email. But nothing to take me to Amazon. (I don't want a price comparison tool, just a button to take me to Amazon.com.) And this new update is slower than the old version. Websites take longer to load than before.

Hello, try using DuckDuckGo as your default search engine, that way when you type !a [keyword here] it will load a search on Amazon.com for your requested item. Hope this helps!

That really won't help. Most of the time when I go to Amazon it's to check orders, gift card balance, wish list, and royalties from my book sales.

I also just discovered that my bookmarks are all messed up. There are a lot of them and they were in a useful order. That order is gone. Some of those were things I need to use several times a week. With Alzheimer's, I need the visual clues on my bookmark list to tell me to check those. Those clues are gone.

How can I go back to the previous version and have everything the way it was? This layout sucks, and it's so much slower than it was before.

If you are looking for a "button" to take you to Amazon, why not just create a new bookmark for that website? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/bookmarks-firefox

the-edmeister, did you see my comment on bookmarks? I already have many, hundreds. They are no longer in a usable order. Adding more for things I used to access with a button on the toolbar is not really a good solution.

The fact of the matter is that some extensions cannot be simply "replaced', their functionality is predicated upon the data organized within; e.g. session manager. The complete disregard for user concerns with this release is truly stunning...

I'm troubled to hear to this. Does the problem show up everywhere or only on particular menus/lists?

By the way, there is a "real" bookmarks menu button for the toolbar. You can add it from Customize, or use the "Library" button as described in the article linked below:

But I digress...

One option would be to restore a bookmark backup from an earlier date. To see what is available, please use the steps in this article: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Thank you, jscher2000! You got me my bookmarks back, and in the right order! The bookmarks in Firefox link you gave had the solution. So at least that's part of the problem solved. Still don't have a button for Amazon, but got one for Facebook and my email. But I don't know why they thought this new version of Firefox was so fast. It's so much slower than the previous version.
