Hi I need help to get rid of this invasive disgraceful Blackmail from photobucket! Since this appeared i have deleted my account with photobucket as they have tried to hold my account and pictures to ransom for a payment of $400.00 this is not only totally illegal but cant for the life of me understand why Firefox would aid and abet this sort of action as it is totally criminal.

So the Question is whether you are supporting Blackmail or if you arn't? If you are not then ridding yourself of any collusion would be in your best interests.

I love Firefox and have for many years but allowing such disgraceful infiltration of a perfect browser is perplexing and worrying to say the least!

So how do i get rid of this?

Yours Sincerely

Tripn

No idea about any invasion or blackmail. As you say that is against the law. If they are holding your pictures you need to deal with them, not Firefox Support.

Suggestion next time you take a screen shot you should look to see what tabs you have open.

As for this issue it is probably malware. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Please follow the instructions in the above URL and save your logs and go to a forum that you like or the program that found the issues and have them help you finish cleaning up what ever is left behind.

Please also update your browser to version 54/0.1 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version Not running the current version is a security risk.

Please also keep your Flash up to date as it is a security risk when not running the current version 26.0.0.137 https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi Thanx for your help i followed your advice and updated/ran malware,adware etc. and they found nothing. But the invasive line accross the bottom is still there. Is there anything Firefox has to stop such things or can they do it themselves? after all photobucket has hijacked there browser!

Hi Tripn, is that background created by this userstyle:

https://userstyles.org/styles/48958/about-home-lavafox-blackfox

The style calls an image of a little square from Photobucket and that seems to be causing the large advertisement to appear. You can take that out if you like. Here's how:

Open the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click User Styles. Then find "about:home - LavaFox & BlackFox" on the right side and click its Edit button. That should open the style rules in an editor, usually in another tab.

You can use Ctrl+f to open a find bar, type bucket and press Enter. From what I can see, there's only one line:

background: rgba(0,0,0,.8) url("http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad144/zigboom/square_000000_181818.png") !important;

Remove everything from url( to ) so it reads:

background: rgba(0,0,0,.8) !important;

Then click Preview and open the home page in another tab to confirm the bottom no longer has those ads. Then you can click Save to update your saved version of the style.
