Google Search bar won't let me sign in to various sites and also I cannot copy links in Google docs
Every time I try to log in to various sites the Firefox search box opens and covers the log in box. It also prevent automatic log in. I'm also having problems copying links from Google Docs using the CTRLC command. I can't get it to highlight the link.

What Firefox search box are you talking about?
Is this a search bar on a web page or a bar in the user interface (Navigation Toolbar)?
Can you attach a screenshot?

- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
The Firefox search bos on the same line as the address bar so it's on the Navigation toolbar I guess. I can't attach a screenshot as it's a periodical problem and is working ok atm. The next time I get it I'll post a screenshot
That search bar should only open if you type something in it.
Make sure that you aren't accidentally pressing a keyboard shortcut to access the search bar (Ctrl+K).
That's the problem, I try and enter things in another site and the search bar opens and covers the original field. If I try to continue typing it shows in the search bar instead of the site I'm trying to log into.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
