I have tried all the fixes for hang's that occur while typing, scrolling, moving from page to page, clicking, you name it and it is happening. A couple of the fixes have seemed to work temporarily but always come back. I am ready to can Firefox and try Chrome!

I don't think you answered all of my questions and I do not at the moment have time to attempt to investigate this, however many or the crashing signatures may relate to issues where Firefox multi process mode is used, so turning that off you may find stops crashing.

I suggest for a potential quick workaround you disable Multi Mode

Pre release versions of Firefox have easier methods of turning this feature off or adjusting its settings but for now: Disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

I tried Firefox Refresh but all that did was wipe out all my history!...and saved web pages...It took forever to put them back!

All your bookmarks and history should've been saved in a new profile folder when you hit refresh. Here is an article how to make Firefox faster, let me know if it helps.

Firefox has some complicated and advanced built in diagnostic tools, that in some instances may offer insight in to these sort of issues. Even if attempting to use those it is best to do that in the simplest possible configuration in which a problem is seen, and there is no guarantee that it is easy to find someone knowledgeable enough to interpret the results properly.

By far the best, simplest, and most successful method is a process of elimination starting from bottom up so to speak, by which I mean making small changes from a simple good settup, NOT trying from a complicated setup that you may use in day to day use of Firefox.

The Firefox Refresh is not something that should ordinarily need to be done repeatedly. The Refresh will remove Firefox extensions - there is a possibility Developers may be getting close to modifying Refresh so that extensions may be easily re-enabled after a Refresh. Refresh should not lose bookmarks and history - that is not to say it can not happen - but by backing up the profile manually in advance you should be able to ensure nothing is lost.

Right now Firefox may be hanging and causing problems for a proportion of users due to changes intended to do just the opposite. As I understand it improvements that help on high spec machines, can cause issues on older or lower spec machines, but if necessary those improvements can be turned off.

Can you please: give us an idea of how bad these problems are and how often they occur. For instance do you get crashes most days, or most weeks, is the browser so slow it takes seconds or many seconds to type in an individual word.

If you test: while you do not have FlashPLayer enabled and you use Firefox in its safe mode do the problems improve  ?

Please: paste in to your next reply 3 of 4 recent crash reports and if you get crashes in safe mode please past in the ID of a couple of additional crash IDs from safe mode crashes.

  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
