Mozilla maintenance service prevents PC from entering sleep mode.
My computer would not turn off the monitor, and never goes to sleep as long as FF is open. After further t/s I concluded it was caused by the separate "Mozilla maintenance service" component. I uninstalled the component through the CP add/remove programs and the issue seems to be resolved. Is that component really needed? Any idea why this happened?
Thanks.

The issue is resolved- Sorry, it really had nothing to do w/FF, It was one of my other machines, HTPC accessing my picture library for WMC Slideshow screen saver. Thank you all.

Hi, not really sure why the Mozilla Maintenance Service would do that, but the good news is that removing it shouldn't cause any problems.

While this answer is helpful, it really is not the solution I'm looking for. I'd rather have the service along with the browser!! While I did not take the time to learn about what it does, it did come with the browser and since FF is my only choice for a browser, I'd rather it be complete. I'll go on using it sans the maintenance service for now, but I'm hoping FF developers look into this further. If more information about my system is needed, I'd be willing to provide it.
Thank you.
How do you know it's the maintenance service causing the problem?
I don't know. Well, I cannot be sure, I uninstalled it and the display entered power save mode when it was supposed to, but now, today, I came home from work and the display was on with FF open, I closed FF, and after 15 minutes, it entered the power save mode as it should- I can only assume FF has something to do with it.
Actually never mind, I think I need to do more research- those two instances may have been just coincidental and I'm starting to think the culprit is likely something else.
Start Firefox, then walk away for a while.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
While still in Safe Mode,
