The Javascript:void that you see if you hover a link is a placeholder text. The actual action in done via a JavaScript onclick event that is attached to the link (button).

If nothing happens that you could be blocking this JavaScript.

If you use extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Cor-el thanks for the reply. I have a dumb question for you. I am not computer savvy at all. Never have gotten this deep at fixing basic items. 1st question is where is the reload button located on the web page so I can try what you mentioned. What are the steps to clear cookies.

There is a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location/address bar.

  • Stop button: while the page is loading (x shaped button)
  • Reload button: when the page has finished loading (arrow in clockwise circle shape)
  • Go button: when you modify the location/address bar content (right pointing arrow)

Note that you can middle-click the Reload button with the mouse wheel to duplicate the current tab to a new tab

I don't believe I added a Firefox address bar.

My bar ?? shows the buttons, bookmark this page, save this pocket, downloads, start page and start a conversation.
