Did this problem just start recently, perhaps after the update to Firefox 37?

On live.com, what is the problem you're seeing? For example:

  • time-out or server not found
  • blank page
  • scrambled/partial load
  • secure certificate error

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

In Safe Mode it works, what to do next to keep that in Normal Mode?

Edit: It was before the update, about week ago..

Safe Mode does a few different things, but usually the most relevant are:

  • Disables hardware acceleration, which can help with graphical glitches
  • Disables extensions, which may be interfering with page loading/rendering

Do you want to review your extensions and see whether any can be disabled permanently (or removed)? You might need to exit out of Firefox and start it again normally.

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that help with the problem sites?
