How can I get the status bar back on my web page

more options

I want to get the status bar on the bottom of the web page so that I can slide from left to right if an article is too large for my monitor. I had it this morning 1-5-15. After checking out Thunderbird as an option for my email, the bar disappeared after uninstalling Thunderbird. I know about hovering over the web pages I have on my menu bar, but I would rather have the entire bar at bottom of page.

The gray bar shows up in my email only. I would like to have it on all my websites.

Thank you.

I assume what you mean in the horizontal scroll bar if you want to be able to scroll horizontally. Firefox will normally only show that bar if the content is extending outside the browsing window.

You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident. Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl/Command+0 (zero))

Do you mean the add-ons bar at the bottom of the Firefox windows? The add-on bar was removed during the last update by Mozilla for reasons no one understands. In some cases leaving lots of icons homeless.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for an add-on bar.

Many of us are using Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) {web link} Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).

This will restore many of the things the last upgrades took away.

Thanks for the answer. It did not bring back the horizontal bar, but you helped refresh my memory about zooming with the mouse. :)

Thanks for your answer. I did check out the add ons. I do have the scroll bar only on a few pages. Guess I have to get used to it.

Does the scroll bar appear if you maximize the window or possibly switch to full screen mode via F12?

You can try to open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize the window in case the current window is too high and the horizontal scroll bar falls off.

Try to open a new window in case there is a problem with the current window.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted xulstore.rdf file.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

The scroll bar comes back when my web page is too big. A personal friend told me also that the size of the web page is what brings the scroll bar.

Thanks for your help.
