At least you weren't using a VPN they can monitor directly for traffic.

Since they own that laptop, they could have installed a surveillance program that could even turn on the web cam remotely, much less track the websites that are visited using that laptop.

Typically the reasoning behind installing tracking software is in the event the laptop is lost or stolen; when it is "reported" then can monitor the IP addresses of where it is used and take a webcam image of whoever is using it, to try to recover their property. Other than reported thefts, they might have too much information to sift thru for off-site misuse of company property - so you be safe, that's not any sort of guarantee.

As reported in the news over the past few years, some nefarious technicians at a few school systems that had that type of software installed on school issued laptops "stepped over the line" and were spying on children in their own homes via the webcam and the anti-theft & recovery software that was installed. And as it turned out, the company that sold those laptops to the school districts (with that software pre-installed) was also accused of doing the same thing (with the webcam) with laptops they leased or sold as "rent to own" to the general public. They got caught watching their "customers with their pants down" or off.

My advice is if you have a PC tech friend, have him / her run a full scan for that type of software on Sunday before you return to work on Monday. That way you'll be "prepared with knowledge" when you go to work on Monday that you might be in trouble.

thank you for reply . i have one more question as i was not connected to company VPN . i was using my home network . is there any place where all the activity is stored in my system itself. i heard that private browsing in monzilla dosnt store any thing in system . is there any way that can be traced back ?

I got it, that you weren't using a VPN - I said "at least you weren't".

Private Browsing only stores browsing history in RAM until you close Firefox, then it's gone. Now, if you watched any videos, that data might still be where Flash stores downloaded files - unless PB now deletes that, too. I am not up on all the recent changes in all areas.

thanks a lot again for your reply. i went through flash player user manual it says it supports private browsing 10.1 version onwards and deletes all the stored data once you came out of the private browsing . Anyway i think i am safe now but i will myself inform Tech team about this incident as it was a mistake and my session was hardly lasted for 30- 40 sec . it is better to be found by them .
