Firefox crashed and when I reloaded it runs under Internet Explorer, how can this be?

Firefox shows small window of site but will not load when I click on it. I installed IE and then downloaded the firefox browser. It downloaded but runs only like IE with it's tool bars etc.. It says that it's the firefox browser but shows the IE symbol and runs the IE page style. How can this be? Is this a new malicious attack? How can I get firefox back. I don't like IE. I'm currently typing this page from a different computer.

You need to update firefox, you have a very old version.
