Unhide file extenstions as cor-el said then right click the user.js and prefs.js and delete them.

Try a scan with AVG Rescue DIsk.
I was able to open registry editor still can find pref js user js
No, using another computer, burn AVG Rescue disk iso to a CD and run it as explained.
