why can't I get on line after updating to firefox 16?

Firefox updated to version 16. Since then I cannot access the internet with firefox. Internet explorer works fine. Reverting to a restore point allows firefox to access the internet again. Removing firefox as an excepted program through the firewall and then adding it back did not fix it. I still can't get on line with firefox 16.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
