I am running Windows 7 and for the last few days, since the latest update on Tuesday morning, I have not been able to open a blank tab in FIREFOX 3.6. Last night I uninstalled FIREFOX and then downloaded it. Still I can not get a blank tab to open.

Try disabling the Ask Toolbar extension.

Disabling the ASK toolbar did not solve the problem, so I disabled all of the toolbars, restarted Firefox and still had the problem. I then started Firefox in the safe mode from the programs list, resetting "toolbars and controls" and resetting "all user preferences to Firefox defaults". That worked, but I would not have gotten there had I not had the advice to disable the ASK toolbar. Thank you.
