Please allow the space bar behavior to be editable in about:config
For years, I've been looking for a way to disable the space bar from acting as a page down button, including trying out scripts to solve it, but please let users disable that shortcut in the about:config page.

It is difficult for me, since I see that ability to change what the backspace does is available, but there's no option for the space bar. The space bar is something that I often accidentally hit, and it would be of immense relief to me to no longer have that issue of it paging down what I reading. This is my request, and there are others who also feel similarly.

You can use "Shift + Space bar" to go up again, similar to "Shift + BackSpace".
I appreciate the reply, but I would still feel a lot better having not accidentally paged down by hitting the space bar. I would really like the firefox configuration settings to allow disabling that.
Disabling the space bar is tricky as there are a lot of cases where the space bar has a useful action like with selecting/toggling an item in an option/select drop-down list or clicking a button or for pausing/playing a video and games also might be using it.
It would be worth it for me and others. In regards to video playback, the only website where I use shortcut keys to watch videos with is Youtube, and yeah, the space bar accidentally getting pressed is especially troublesome. A lot of the times, I follow tutorials and work with my hands around my desk as I follow instructions. The large space bar is incredibly easy to accidentally be pressed while I'm manually working. If I really want to pause a video on purpose, I'll either use my mouse, or use Youtube's default play/pause shortcut, the K key.
Being able to disable the space bar = page down functionality just for ease of following along with Youtube tutorials alone would be of major help. If I truly needed the space bar = page down function, then I would toggle it on. A simple toggle would be the best of both worlds, perhaps?
