fierfox open on blank tab
All of the sudden Firefox is opening on a blank tab instead my home page - gmail.com. This might have started with new update 80.0.1. The home button takes me to gmail just fine.

Hello, At the Preferences tab, you could promt the browser with the website you desire everytime you open the Firefox webbrowser. Hope it helps.

Look for: Set or change your home page
Look for The default Startup setting
The start page is set in the settings. it hasn't changed. It just doesn't open to it.
It is getting stranger. The first time after a power on it seems to work. If I shut FF down and reopen then all I get a blank page and tab that says "new tab". If I hit the home icon my page loads.
Are you opening Firefox using a shortcut? Open its properties and check the link being used.
The link being used is fine. That was the first thing I checked. I am using a userchrome.css to give me tabs on bottom. I disabled it and the problem still exists.
