facebook live "Please try broadcasting on the latest desktop version of Chrome to go live with your camera."

more options

Using fire fox 63.0.3 latest update, with windows 7 or windows 10 I get the message "Please try broadcasting on the latest desktop version of Chrome to go live with your camera." when attempting to broadcast live on facebook selecting camera.

Checked settings, no blocking for camera or audio, confirm correct camera and audio devices when I allow. First occured on my windows 7 Desktop using Blackmagic presenter, tried on my windows 10 laptop with built in camera and same thing. Appears Mozilla has dropped support for face book live through web cam camera method.

Anyone have any ideas on why this message? As it states if I use Chrome it works no issues.

Thanks, FP

Hi FP, that message is coming from Facebook, not Firefox.

It may be that FB uses some features of Chrome that aren't available in Firefox or are restricted?? I have never tried to use Live (except to view it), so I don't know what is required.

If you want to try to fool the site, you can set Firefox to identify itself as Chrome. This involves changing the "user agent" setting. However, it might not work if FB then switches to code that isn't compatible with Firefox...
