I am having trouble with thunderbird since in updated my mac with the new macOS Sierra 10.12. Once I start thunderbird, it just freezes and I can not do anything. Would really appreciate some help. Never had problems with thunderbird and its my favourite email programm so far. Dont really wanna get another one.

just try reinstalling Thunderbird. It might trip some security flags the update messed up and make it work again. I have not heard of anything specific to the OSX update, so it really is just suck it and see.
