How can two different sites say I'm vulnerable to POODLE with FireFox 35?

says I'm vulnerable with Firefox 35. So does:

I attempted the about:config edit that I saw on the forum, but that variable is already set to 1.

I saw a discussion about avast anti-virus. I am running the paid version of avast. I do not understand the discussed fix.

Can I get a clearer description of what to do in avast? And how is avast (apparently) over-riding FireFox settings?

Finally, is this an issue for thunderbird or not? I saw a post that said, "don't worry" if all you do is email, which is my case. I saw that an add-on is available for thunderbird, but could not find it.

hello, please disable the https-scanning in avast as this can actually make yor connection less secure. https scanning means that avast is intercepting an encrypted connection between your firefox browser and the website you're trying to connect to (so firefox is establishing a secure connection to avast and avast to the website) and apparently there are some implementation issues they need to work out in this regard : https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=161458.msg1159508#msg1159508

hello, please disable the https-scanning in avast as this can actually make yor connection less secure. https scanning means that avast is intercepting an encrypted connection between your firefox browser and the website you're trying to connect to (so firefox is establishing a secure connection to avast and avast to the website) and apparently there are some implementation issues they need to work out in this regard : https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=161458.msg1159508#msg1159508
