Hi can anyone one help me please.

Over the last couple of days Firefox 27.0.01 has began to crash something rotten on me. I will click on one of the tabs I have open and instead of opening it the browser will close everything down and I get the crash report box (the one where it asks if I would like to send a crash report).

Please what is going on? Is Fx 27 now totally unusable? And can I fix it? I do not really want to go to Fx29 as I don't like the sound of what Fx has done to it.

Now just to warn you I am completely brainless when it comes to computers so please make your answers simple.

Oh and I tried to install the "automatically add" add-on and Fx prevented me from doing so.

So what's that got to do with anything?

That reply wasn't in the least bit useful.

This could be a problem with McAfee SiteAdvisor, so you can try to disable this McAfee component and its extension in Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You have two versions of two different programs on your computer. Your question should be; Could This Cause A Conflict !

Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I have just disabled (since I cant remove it) the older version.

I am NOT disabling McAffee as that is my life blood on this thing.

McAffee is my only anti-virus and I need site adviser badly.

McAfee is most likely the cause of your problem. Bug reports point to this extension being a possible cause in Firefox crashes.

Instead of removing it, you can try to see if McAfee (hasn't this been bought out by Intel?) has issued an update for Firefox 29.

The McAfee Site Advisor extension duplicates a feature that is built into Firefox; IOW, it really isn't "necessary", especially if it is causing Firefox to crash.

I AM NOT DISABLING MACAFFEE COMPRENDE!

MCAFFEE IS MY LIFE BLOOD. SO TRY AGAIN.

ALSO I UPDATED TO THE UTTERLY HORRENDOUS UGLY FX 29 AND THAT HAS STOPPED WORKING ON ME 4 TIMES ALREADY.

I AM SO GLAD THAT SOMEONE SAW FIT TO CREATE A PROGRAMME THAT PUTS BACK THE OLD FIREFOX THEME. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE OF IT IS THE TABS START FROM THE CENTRE AND NOT THE LEFT HAND SIDE LIKE THEY USED TO.

JUST WHAT THE HELL IS IT WITH MOZILLA? HAVE THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE OLD ADDAGE IF IT AINT BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT INTERNET EXPLORER AND CHROME ARE BEATING THEM.

THE PERSON THAT CAME UP WITH THAT PROGRAMME TO CHANGE THE FX THEME DESERVES THE NOBEL PRIZE.

If you won't disable it, then you can stay with a crashing Firefox. We've given you support, you refuse to accept it. AFAICT, there's nothing more to be done here. Your problem is with Site Advisor. You haven't mentioned if you have tried to look for an update to McAfee Site Advisor. Perhaps there is an update that will fix this issue. If not, you can find support at https://support.mcafee.com. BTW, it's not up to Mozilla to make extensions such as Site Advisor work. McAfee needs to hold up their end and make a functioning add-on to work properly for each version of Firefox that has been released.
