Windows 11: Taskbar Still Shows in Full-Screen Video

Hi all,

I’m looking for help with a Windows taskbar issue. My taskbar refuses to auto-hide when I have a video in full-screen and a Picture-in-Picture video running simultaneously. It works fine with just one video, but the PiP window keeps the taskbar active.

Does anyone know if there is a setting or workaround to fix this behavior?

Thank you.

There were some changes to how similar windows are handled (removing special–casing) on Windows due to crashes caused by certain antivirus solutions.

Would you be willing to run a couple of separate Nightly versions to help confirm if it used to work in the past better and this is just an effect of the simplification, so that it's logged as such?

Hi, I've been using Firefox for many years and this is my first encounter. I decided to reset my PC last night and it has been happening since then. My previous Firefox doesn't do this and neither the other browser.

Also, what is this Nightly versions you're talking about? I'm not a tech smart as you can see haha

Ah no worries it's just a comparison to see if there's a known culprit or it's unrelated. So the Firefox Nightly is a separate developer build that doesn't interfere with your normal release profile and doesn't share any profile data as it comes as a "clean slate". So it can be used to quickly verify things, and even "go back in time" to any arbitrary build. I'd like to verify if potentially this fix bugzilla.mozilla.org/2036624 now causes what you witness.

Nightlies can be used for downgrading and upgrading as necessary for investigation purposes in isolation. I'd start with downloading this one:

to understand if running this Nightly version yields the results you're looking for. If that one doesn't show the taskbar, it'd be interesting to then download a newer:

that has the above mentioned patch included. And if this one shows the taskbar now compared to the older version, it might be interesting to look more into it.

No need to investigate further, we have a range identified and bugs filed: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1591413#answer-1830441
