Hello

What are the restricted sites in the Firefox extension details? What are the sites restricted by Mozilla, as referred to on the page https://support.mozilla.org/pl/kb/dlaczego-niektore-dodatki-nie-sa-dozwolne-na-stronach-ograniczonych-przez-mozille?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#firefox:win10:fx135 ?

I think you need to ask that of the sites that fall into this restriction not Mozilla since it's the site to check their settings.

Also if you read the EN version it tells you what Mozilla can and can't do.

"Mozilla maintains an open extension system that gives developers many choices in how they create, use, and deploy their work. This same openness also provides more options for potential attackers. While Mozilla can identify and block malicious add-ons discovered through tools, ratings, and user reports, it is not always enough."

How do I know what sites these are? That's what Mozilla supposedly determines. I have an extension in Firefox, and in it I have the option to enable or disable action on sites restricted by Mozilla. It says ‘restricted by Mozilla’.

In the extension it says ‘When allowed, the extension will have access to sites restricted by Mozilla. ’

You should contact the addon devs what their addon does then.

This was already done before I wrote here. The creator of the add-on wrote that it is Mozilla that determines the sites (pages) to which it restricts access. Someone is writing an untruth. It can't be that Mozilla doesn't know what these sites are and refers to the extension developer and the extension developer refers to Mozilla.

He's not from Mozilla nor from SUMO. Please disregard everything what he says.

Thank you very much. I was just wondering why the stance on this matter differs so significantly between the Polish and the English versions. I also wrote in English, thinking I'd get a quicker reply there, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.

It would be advisable that on https://support.mozilla.org/1/firefox/135.0/WINNT/en-GB/quarantined-domains would include information on what sites are ‘restricted by Mozilla’. It is not a matter of pointing out specific addresses, but of writing about which sites are referred to, what type, who determines this, on the basis of which criteria, etc. The user should know for which sites he or she is granting the extension permissions. It seems natural to want to know to whom something is given and for what purpose.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste extensions.quarantinedDomains and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox should list two preferences. The one that lists the restricted domains is called extensions.quarantinedDomains.list. Mine seems to just have a handful of .br sites.

This I know. I have two items: extensions.quarantinedDomains.enabled with the value ‘true’ extensions.quarantinedDomains.list with six domains

This is not the point.

The point is that on https://support.mozilla.org/1/firefox/135.0/WINNT/en-GB/quarantined-domains it should say: 1. who determines which sites are with restrictions, 2. for what reasons they are determined, 3. what criteria are taken into account?

The idea is that the user should know which sites they are giving the browser extension permission to. It is not about which specific sites, as these change.

For #1, it is Mozilla. For #2 and #3, I don't know.

There is a separate forum to discuss article changes. If you look in the right margin of an article, there should be a Discussion link. (Or maybe only frequent contributors see it?)

@Jscher, I don't think that SUMO contributors would be able to include such an info. Can you ask someone from staff to gather it and update the article? Fabi and Lucas were initial authors, are they still working?
