I got a new computer and am trying to set up Thunderbird and do not remember the password for my email. I need to reset it and then enter a new password.

Then I suggest you contact your mail provider (the company name after the @ in your email address) as they are the ones you have an email account with. Thunderbird just collects and organizes mail, it does not have email accounts as such.
