transferring archive to another computer

I use Autoarchive Reloaded on one computer. I have lots of emails archived from imap now on a local folder. Only i want to have those archives on another computer. I am afraid to move the archive folder directly. It must have some internal address or database showing the name of the computer/user.. I couldn't find support on the Add on's creator. Any idea? Thank you

Copy the entire Thunderbird profile to the other computer. Back it up on the one computer and restore it to the other computer. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_restoring-a-profile-backup

It is not the same user name, will that work smoothly?

If you're talking about the Windows user iD, that doesn't matter. You'll just have to restore the profile at the correct path underneath the desired users's home directory. Check this article for more information on the profile location. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

If i copy the profile name as well. It will be the same on both machines. Will that be ok with the mail server ? Will it differentiate the 2 machines to sync emails?

The profile name is strictly local. The mail server has no visibility of the profile name.

Thunderbird gave me an error message about name being too long but it seems to have copied all the archived emails to the new computer. Thanks
