smtp server password does not work,I have updated the password several times but still cant send anything. I have uninstalled the whole program and reinstalled but cant get the server to accept my new password. 

Its been oK for several years.

Have you tried disabling your anti virus email scanner?

Ihave got a newpassword for my Sky email account and withh skys support tried to connect to thunderbird. A new account was accepted by thunderbird BUT the smtp server would still Not accept my sky email password. I have tried reinstalling thunderbird.
