HTTP Error 400 message
When I try to access several sites I get a HTTP Error 400, bad request message. I have tried clearing the cache as suggested but it does not solve the problem

What website is this?
Did you clear the cookies as well, because this error is most of the time caused by corrupted cookies?
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Hotmail among others
Please try the suggestion mentioned by cor-el.
I have done that several times and it does not help

Are you navigating to those pages via the main (home) page of that website or are you using a bookmark?
In case of the latter, this bookmark may no longer be working and you need to navigate via the main site to reach this page.
After the bookmarks did not work I tried typing the addy but got the same result. Googling and trying to connect via the link does not work either.
Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
This keeps happening to me also, usually when I click a link from a known email. I then go through the steps mentioned above, but eventually have to delete all cookies. The things work fine ... until the next time! Any suggestions?
