For weeks Firefox has been crashing at random whether I have opened one site or several. Perhaps the most frequent is while using webmail. It is quite impossible to compose mail using address book. I have been sending reports many times a day without any response from Firefox. I am currently In Costa Rica using secure wifi. There is another computer being used alongside me without any complications.

hello, you won't receive any reply to those sent crash reports in general (developers will only reach out in extraordinary cases). could you enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few crash ids & paste them here into a reply on the forums. this will give us a better understanding on what might go wrong in your case...

This crash is caused by Norton. Do you have Norton 2012 or 2013 installed on your computer?

If you have Norton 2013, please install all latest updates via live update.

If you have Norton 2012, norton will be releasing an update to fix 2012 in the next few days. Please continue to check for updates.

In the meantime you can disable the Norton toolbar to continue to use Firefox.

thanks, i've only looked at the first three of them, but they are all caused by the norton symantec security product you're using. norton has already released an update that fixes the crashes for its 2013 product line - a fix for norton 2012 should follow this week. for more information see: https://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-18-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/900991/highlight/true#M8266

in the meanwhile you could disable the norton toolbar/identify safe in firefox > addons > extensions. or upgrade to a norton 2013 product (which can be done free of charge when you're in an active subscription as far as i understand it).

Thanks, will try these and let you know

I have Norton 2012 and have disabled the Norton tool bar. Firefox continues to crash on closing every time. However I will look for the update which you say will appear in a few days. In the meantime I will keep the question open. Thanks
