Using 8, lost bookmarks, reinstalled, still wont restore or import bookmarks

All my bookmarks have vanished, from both the toolbar and the menu. I've tried following all the recommendations for lost bookmarks in the support pages, but Firefox simply won't restore a previous session, or import bookmarks from a html file.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Thank you! Finally deleted the places.sqlite file and renamed the places.sqlite.corrupt file, as suggested in the link you recommended.
