Hi all, thanks for volunteering your expertise here. FireFox doesn't allow me to open my printer's configuration home page on my local IP4 network. I failed to find where to add a possible exception for such an address. Error message contains: "This web site might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported by Firefox."

I don't think my printer/scanner is a significant security risk to me.

Any solutions, other than replacing a perfectly fine printer?

Cheers, Hans

Hi Hans, you can set Firefox to fall back to older versions of the TLS protocol, but I don't know how to do it only for that device, it could affect all sites. But maybe you only need it temporarily and then you can restore the default? Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste security.tls.version.min and pause while the list is filtered

(3) The default value is 3 (meaning, TLS 1.2). Double-click the preference to display an editing field, and change the value to 1 (meaning TLS 1.0) then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.

When you are done managing this device, you can restore the original value by clicking left-arching Reset arrow button at the right end of the row.
