why does my password authentication always fail when the same authentication name and password always succeed when logging in directly to maui.net using firefox

This is the initial installation and I can't get the app to authenticate and access my local server using the proper user name and password that ALWAYS works when I access the local server directly using Firefox. I donated and all but someone really needs to help me. I see the post from 11 months ago is still unanswered. Who's the genius who can help me because my local server's techs sure can't figure it out. I've got Thunderbird active on another computer, I even tried copying the settings I found there and still no luck.

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.
