Is Shockwave or Flash plug-in's ok now? If not do you have suggestions to use?
I deleted Flash yesterday 07/14 since its been blocked. Today I read it's ok; redownloaded it as flash but it's loaded as shockwave in the plug-ins. Is it ok or did they pull a fast one?
If adobe flash is not good anymore, do you have a suggestions what to use for games & movies?
Chosen solution
Depending on where you look it may still be called Shockwave Flash Player, not to be confused with the little used nowadays Shockwave (for director) player.
If you have Flash Player 18.0.0.209 then you are up to date as Adobe released it on early Tuesday.

Unfortunately, until websites stop requiring Flash, there's really no good substitute.
The good news is, Adobe released an update yesterday to resolve the critical issues it admitted were in the 18.0.0.203 version. You can get 18.0.0.209 on this page:

In the first table, look for the row for "plugin-based browsers" and you can use either the EXE or the MSI installer.
To ensure that the installer can remove the old version, please close all tabs that are using Flash, or exit out of Firefox, while the installer is running.
No one can promise that this kind of block will never happen again. Should that occur, if you are not accustomed to using the "Ask to Activate" feature for a plugin, here's what to expect:
When you visit a site that wants to use Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click the Lego-like icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can trust the site for the time being or permanently.
But some pages use Flash only for tracking or playing ads, so if you don't see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification! It will just sit there in case you want it later.
To address the naming issue: the plugin has always been called Shockwave Flash. Shockwave was a well established brand at the time Flash was launched, although nowadays, Shockwave (now called Shockwave for Director) isn't used nearly as much as Flash.
