How To delete "New Tag" That I never ask for!

I never requested this "New Tag' search page that It seems may be part of the firefox download I did. I would like my home page back. I know it just requires clicking the X to get rid of it but that is annoying to me. I've looked in programs, it isn't there. I cannot file on my computer to "ditch" it either. Any help will be appreciated. By the number of people asking in google how to get rid of it I'm not the only one annoyed by it. PlusYou should be given the choice of downloading it or not. Why do the hide the file & program ?

Check Options > General to see what your home page is, and correct it if it is wrong.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
