Firefox tries to access trending-fun-today.com
I have noticed that Firefox tries to reach this destination each time a page is loaded or reloaded. I have scanned 5X with different products and none have been able to find or correct this. It does not seem to happen in IE. I have temporarily modified the hosts file as well as blocking that url at the gateway, but I would love to know where this malware resides. It doesn't seem to cause any problems ,but I do not want anything going somewhere it shouldn't and this is definitely one of those places from what I read.
I'm using XP MBAM SAS Ccleaner, Glary Utilities and Webroot Secureanywhere AV All are paid PRO versions. Any ideas appreciated !

hello KG4MUC, does the problem still exist when you reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)?
otherwise please do a clean reinstall of firefox. uninstall firefox from the windows control panel & make sure that the firefox program folder got deleted (usually resides in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox), otherwise remove it manually. then redownload firefox from getfirefox.com and install it again.

Thanks for replying. Here is what I have done so far.. I did remove and reinstall Firefox. I did this using Revo Uninstaller which I use for all my uninstalls. I did back up the passwords and everything with Mozbackup first. I neglected to do a reset first before reinstalling FF and I haven't yet tried that, but I will .
I have seen no evil effects from this process.but I'm sure it's there.I would really like to correct this problem as transferring all my passwords to IE will be a real pain :)
Thanks again for the suggestions and I will try the reset and report my findings.

I just did the reset procedure and IT'S FIXED !! As far as I can tell it's not attempting to access any of the suspect sites. I'm not really sure how this ended up in my system anyway.. I have it locked fairly tight with Sygate software firewalls on all the PC's as well as tight security at the gateway and router. Combined with MBAM and Webroot AV. I don't do games so that should rule out that path... I'm happy it's gone !!
Thanks madperson for the suggestion !
