While looking for another setting, I noticed that a setting about how T-Bird handles spam mail. I have it checked. Today, I received a DOOZY of a spam mail, but Thunderbird didn't flag it. It was so obvious spam, as it asked for credit card, banking, automobile license! Also, the Subject asked to update payment info, but the From field wasn't that company.

Taskbar icon shows incorrect number of email. Question: Anyone else having this issue? Any fix? Today the Sent - my email address taskbar button shows 98 In Thunderbird I have only 2 new sent messages from 4-18 and none for 4-19. I have 9550 overall.

My Inbox on various days show 75 or 14 or 8 BTW I never get more then a few messages at a time so seeing 75 or 14 or 8 would never be correct.

I go to download and none show up. I have the number of Total message count already downloaded displayed and the number does not change. Any new message would also be in Bold.

I disabled the showing on the Taskbar and as an example when I go to check messages and it says 1 of 1 yet none show up.

I have even moved all my Inbox email to a subfolder and no new email will show up in the Inbox when the program says I will have lots. I checked my domain cPanel email and no new email either.

I know this worked in the past and lately, it doesn't anymore. I have multiple domains and many email addresses coming into my account. There was an extension called Virtual Identity, which would fill in the From field with the Original email address that the email was addressed to.

This was no longer needed because the feature was added to the base code. It worked for years and in the last year or two, it stopped working.

For ex, the email was sent to bob@ex.com, but my account identity is fran@frog.com, when I hit reply(all) it should fill in the FROM field with bob@ex.com, not my account identity. This used to work great, but now it just fills in the account identity instead.

To rule out old settings, I started fresh and it still doesn't work.

I do have “Reply from this identity when delivery headers match:” set to *@ex.com and it still doesn't work.

I am currently running 115.18.0 on linux, but this has been over many versions now.

Did they kill this feature?

Seems like every week Mozilla does a update to Thunderbird. Every time becomes another problem. Look at all the HELP issues on this forum. There is a old saying " (KISS)KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID" First my "TRASH" disappeared and it now it goes into the "JUNK" file. Then the "JUNK" icon disappeared and when customized back to the top it no longer worked. I had done away with the password having to constantly being entered EVERY time I to tried to receive or send or even look at a existing email already received. And NOW the demanding a password is back with the last weekly update. Now I am constantly having to put in a password that I deleted from the "SAVED PASSWORD" and no NOT have the blocked checked in the "Use Primary Password". I wish I could do a complete CLEAN REINSTALL OF THUNDERBIRD BUT EVERY TIME IT STILL SEEMS TO RECOVER THE PREVIOUS VERSION. Any help would be appreciated. ANYONE BUT THE ARROGANT ASSHOLE MATT FROM AUSTRALIA who think his insults is truth.

Went with a new ISP. Thunderbird was not working right. After spending hours trying to get it to work, backed up as instructed, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Thunderbird. Still have problems but the main issue is not being able to send PDF files or even something scanned from my printer. The error message I keep getting is: "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.". I have gone into Default Programs, associated Thunderbird as my email client. Doesn't work. Went into Regedit and double checked that Thunderbird is my email client. Doesn't work. What do I need to do so that my Windows 10 Home PC, Version 22H2 can send PDF files. All other regular emails (in/out) work fine.

Nothing about the outgoing server. I'm using Windows 11 and I think the latest Thunderbird version. I really need help to get past this. Further, when I attempt to send with "Control - Enter " keys, The error message uses the wrong server name.

I am only able to send an email by opening Thunderbird and selecting write.

If I try to attach a file by starting with the file > send to > mail recipient or try to trigger Thunderbird with an email address in a browser or start with a distribution list in the address book, all fail.

All produce the following diagnostic: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) localhost failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

My issue : I think my emails have been deleted. Its something like 500mb of content.

I'm on Windows 10; on 128.9.2esr version for Thunderbird.

You see how the path is structured: account@mail.com/inbox/... I moved my mails folders into the folder account@mail.com (instead of account@mail.com/inbox/) Closed thunderbird Restarted thunderbird

All folders at account@mail.com/ disappeared.

I tried to find them. I created a folder named "TestAccountFindThunderbird" I moved account@mail.com/inbox/TestAccountFindThunderbird into account@mail.com/TestAccountFindThunderbird Closed thunderbird Restarted thunderbird "TestAccountFindThunderbird" disappeared as well

and making a research on C:\ drive I managed to find TestAccountFindThunderbird.msf inside the folder at C:\Users\<my_account>\AppData\Local\Temp\MozillaMailnews

At the same place I found also the other things that disappeared from my mail account Health.msf, Apple.msf, Work.msf, Insurances.msf, Bank.msf, ... But they are all .msf files...

I saved them into a backup folder. Then I copy pasted all that content from backup to INBOX.sbd but when I open Thunderbird in a blink they are all removed. I guess its because they are .msf and not actual content.

1) Why when I move a mail folder into account@mail.com/ then the folder disappears/is deleted? 2) Where are my emails? And how do I reimport them? 3) Why do I have traces of them into AppData\Local\Temp\MozillaMailnews?

I am running Windows 10 Home edition. My email account is for a domain I own on Dreamhost. When I click on a subfolder I get the message "Server imap.dreamhost.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." I have my firewall set to allow thunderbird.exe traffic to pass. Any suggestions. I don't have this issue running K-9 on my Andriod phone. (I am reluctant to switch to Thunderbird on my Android phone until I solve this on my PC.

Any suggestions?

I have been using Thunderbird for several years now and am currently using Thunderbird Desktop Version 128.9.2esr Released April 15, 2025, on a MacBook Air Retina 13", using OSMac Sonoma 14.7.5. Office attachments cannot be open directly from an email, but have to be detached first. I have had this problem for some time and I have looked at other posts about this and followed instructions, but the problem persists. Thought I would try again to sort it out. Any help to resolve? i use the Thunderbird app for Android (Samsung S23+ Android 14, OneUI 6.1) to retrieve emails from a mailbox (IMAP). That works. Now I would like to automatically forward incoming emails to other email addresses according to filter criteria.

I have filters for this in the desktop version. But I can't find them in the app. And the filter on the PC only works when the PC is running. Which it shouldn't. The forwarding should be done in the Android app. There is no access to a webmailer.

Since I updated to 128.4.1esr filters no longer work good: some emails are left in the main folder and not transferred in the subfolder I'd like and I ordered via filter; other emails are duplicated in the main folder and in the destination folder ;moreover, if I try to modify a filter, the window is so big that the OK button slips under Windows 11 system tray and it's impossible to click; thw window is impossible to resize, nor I can drag it, so the OK button remains invisible under Windows tray bar.
