How to retain url's in address bar

I know how to delete url's in the address bar but for some strange reason url's are not retained in address bar which makes me type them again and again. Appreciate any suggestions to resinstall this feature for my firefox.

Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing":

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks, Nothing
  • Smart Location Bar

I selected history and bookmarks and still it does not retain url's visited. Didn't resolve my problem right now but useful recommendation

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Thank you for this post. Based upon what I read I did a complete uninstall of Firefox. Then made a clean Firefox install. Added back my bookmarks via the Mozzila backup program and it now works. Must have been a corrupted file. Thank you and others who responded.
