Trouble adding school Gmail address to Thunderbird
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to add my school email address to Thunderbird, but I keep getting a "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." error. I know that the username is right, and for the password, I've tried using the right password vs. leaving that field blank. For the configuration, I don't know if that's right.
The auto-configuration finds a configuration in the Mozilla ISP database, but that configuration leads me to the aforementioned error message. If the configuration is wrong, how would I go about finding the right information?
Alternatively, might it be the case that my school (the organization) has disabled using Thunderbird for our email. For any help looking into this, it's a @berkeley.edu address.
Thank you for your help!

Does this link apply to you? It's a guess of mine.

Ah, I tried following the instructions from that link, but according to Gmail Help, IMAP is automatically enabled as of January 2025.
A Google Workspace Updates blog post says that Gmail accounts in Thunderbird need to be configured to use IMAP with OAuth, but even when I try to check that by adding the @berkeley address with manual configuration, it still isn't working.
I'll try contacting Berkeley's IT support for further help.
Thank you for your reply, though, David!
I tried a sample xxx@berkeley.edu setup and it automatically used oauth2. My suggestion: - click settings>privacy&security to ensure cookies are accepted - start over on the setup and enter ONLY your name and your email address. DO NOT enter password. wait for google prompt,
Ah, unfortunately, I've already tried that too, but it didn't work.
Thank you again for your reply, though!
