Hi, I recently had an office location change and post that in my office laptop, Thunderbird cannot authenticate with outlook and collect mails from it. IT team tried syncing the password from their end, and we tried a million other things like checking server settings in Thunderbird etc, but nothing is working. It just says "connecting to outlook.office365.com...." and is stuck there.
email keeps requesting password over and over again, every day. It wont store or mem it

I have 2 imap accounts set up in Thunderbird. When I try to Copy/Move a message from 1 account to another account, thunderbird will return an error that the APPEND is missing ')'.
I have turned on MOZ_LOG and it shows that the append has is wrong as the line ends as UTF8 (~{348+}
According to AI the ~ was inserted and the ) was dropped. It should have send ...UTF8 ({348})
The dovecot IMAP server is rejecting the the append.
How can I resolve this?
Screenprint of the log attached.
Kind regards,
Leo
Thunderbird, every time it starts tells me to change my password for "security device: software security device"

After compacting, nearly all my my e-mails that were stored in subfolders have disappeared. You indicated that most of these should be recoverable, but I'm unable to locate any process for doing so.
Some of these subfolders contained links to paid subscriptions, and of course - restoring those is pretty critical, both personally and professionally.
Please explain how to go about recovering all these missing e-mails. I cannot believe a regular maintenance procedure would result in such a significant data loss.
Many thanks and best regards!

About every five minutes, this message pops up obliterating anything I'm doing on my computer, whether in email or on the internet and I have to go to the task bar and highlight Thunderbird until that message appears on the task bar, then I can delete. Many times, it immediately comes right back on the screen and I have to do it a second time.
'Mozilla Thunderbird wants to Access your Google Account'
My Gmail Address Appears here
This will allow Mozilla Thunderbird Email to:
See, edit, share and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar
By clicking Allow, you allow this app and Google to use your information in accordance with their respective privacy policies. You can change this and other account permissions anytime.
But you CAN'T change anything like it says.
These are most annoying and come up at the most inopportune times when I'm trying to work on something on my computer and it obliterates the entire screen.

I can't figure out how to get a threaded view for a conversation in Thunderbird, so that it behaves the same as a threaded view for a conversation in Outlook:
Email topic is the subject line of the message that started the thread - Most recent reply at the top - Additional replies sorted newest from top to oldest at the bottom - Original message that started the thread at the bottom
So for instance: 1) I receive a message from someone with topic "Lunch Options" and content of the message "Where should we go?" 2) I send a reply with the content: "If you pay..somewhere expensive." 3) I get reply that says: "McDonalds it is then."
When viewing that thread in Thunderbird, I would like that to display like this in the left pane:
Names of people in thread Topic: Lunch Options
When you click on the 'combo of the two lines (names and topic)', the right pane should show the list of messages contained in the thread sorted newest to oldest, with the top one (latest message) expanded. You should then be able to subsequently expand each individual message of the thread in the right pane. However, in the left pane the conversation is still 'collapsed' (with the arrow point right >).
When you click the little arrow in the left pane from > to V to expand the thread, the left pane should show:
Names of people in thread Topic: Lunch Options
- Name of most person with most recent reply plus time stamp - Etc. - Name of thread starter with timestamp
Clicking on any of the sender names should expand THAT message in the right pane. Is this possible?
Thank you for making it to the bottom of this lengthy post....

I'm using Proton VPN. I have the split tunneling set to allow non-VPN connection for thunderbird.exe . It doesn't work. I have a different app that needs split tunneling and it works fine, so it's not the way Proton VPN handles split tunneling. I'm wondering whether I should use a different exe as the split-tunneled one. I see 8 other exe's in the same folder. Perhaps one of these is the one to set-up for split tunneling. BTW I had exactly the same problem when I was using Nord VPN.
Thanks,
Tom

I currently have two Gmail accounts connected to Thunderbird. If I move a large block of emails (say 600) from Gmail account #1 to Gmail account #2, does Gmail see this as me sending 500+ emails from account #1 (with the result that Gmail will block the sending of emails because I exceed their daily limit)? Or, will it somehow be considered a 'transfer' not subject to the Gmail daily limit? Thanks.

I am having recurring problems sending e-mails, not knowing when it is going to work or not. The following message is one that I usually get:
"Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <info@axxxxx.co.uk> recipient rejected - relay denied.
Please check the message recipient "info@xxxxx.co.uk" and try again."
I also get the following message when trying to send:
"Login to server mail.madasafish.com with username btom@madasafish.com failed."
These are my current settings:
Details of selected server: Description: btom Server Name: mail.madasafish.com Port: 25 User Name: btom@madasafish.com Authentication method: Password, transmitted insecurely Connection Security: None
I haven't changed any settings from the last time I was able to send e-mails, so I would appreciate any help.
At times Thunderbird will wait for hours and not search for emails to my inbox. Then it will search for 60 or 80 at once and load them.
I have a mailbox which expunges itself every time it's closed even though that setting is not configured to do so.

After years of using Thunderbird (PC) as a POP email client without issues, one day my client discovered the body text of his emails wouldn't display: not in the preview pane, nor when the email was opened into a separate tab. I tried the recommendations I found online (repair the folders, rebuild them by deleting the associated .msf files, relaunch in Troubleshoot Mode) but none fixed the problem. I decided to create a new Thunderbird profile to see if the problem persisted—but the password I had for the account didn't work, so I wasn't able to finish the test. I reassigned the original profile as the default, exited Thunderbird and relaunched it. But when it came back up in the original profile, none of my client's custom folders, containing years worth of carefully organized emails, appeared. Only the Inbox, Trash, etc., with the same problem of not displaying the body text.
So my first objective is to get my client's custom folders to display as they had before I created the second profile; my next objective is to try to get the body text to display in his messages. Any suggestions welcome! The profile folder is located on a file server, and is fully accessible by the PC, with full permissions. Thanks!

Version 128.10.2 (Supernova.) Was working fine until three days ago. NO email for the last three days. It does connect to the server, it simply refuses to download anything after the status messages at the bottom have run their course. No error messages. Checked server settings - no changes from last time I saw them. Called email provider and verified settings. They see no problem at their end (of course.) Tried her new computer that has an older version of Tbird installed (115.10.1, (Supernova)) and it works fine. Any known issues with this newer 'Nebula" version, or any ideas of where I should look for the problem? Thanks!
