I mucked up my decades old Thunderbird e-mail account on my desktop. After a password change in Spectrum webmail, I lost the ability to receive and send e-mails using my old pop-server account. I tried many things at this communities recommendations but no success. So I changed the name of my old e-mail address and then created a new email account with my former e-mail name and also set up the new e-mail account to an IMAP account. Then when prompted for a password, I correctly inputted the Spectrum webmail password and now I receive e-mails to this account on Thunderbird! Hurray!! However, I still cannot send out e-mails from this account as I get the message that the outgoing server "(SMTP) mail.twc.com" timed out. And no - it is not an antivirus issue.

By the way, my phone e-mail account of the same address is able to send out e-mail messages. However, I wish to handle my most sensitive messages to send off of my desktop version of the same e-mail address and that is where I am not able to send an e-mail.

Yikes - Thunderbird.

After getting fed up with the Outlook app on windows. I decided to switch to TB. Now i can recieve my mails but can't send. I don't Use VPN and also checked if Windows Firewall is screwing things up. But those are allowed

Without the following. Unable to login to server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com with username *****@hotmail.com has failed (Translated from dutch)

These are my Settings incoming IMAP server: outlook.office365.com, 993, SSL/TLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = *****@hotmail.com outgoing SMTP server: smtp.office365.com, 587, STARTTLS, OAuth2 authentication, User Name = *****@hotmail.com

I have a LOT of email filters, for spam that continues to be sent, which is automatically placed into a folder I almost never check. One was for a hotel chain, but now I'm not receiving messages from them about a reservation. My fault, I know. But I've got 6 separate filters with a bunch of From addresses in each. How can I search for and find the one from "Hampton", in order to remove or modify it?

We have two accounts. One has TWO sent folders. One says "Sent", one says and one says "Sent Items". We need to have one eliminated. One never shows ANY sent messages, one will show a sent email, but has "lost" most of the ones from earlier. This is more than annoying. We got a nice response earlier from one the community helpers, but it did not work at all. Anyone else care to give it a go. We have version 146.0.1 Again, many thanks

I am using 140.6.0esr (64-bit) and Windows 10. My Inbox disappeared. I was in it with no problems. Then I noticed two problems. I couldn't open new emails. It said connecting to server or loading content but email was blank. Also when I sent an email it could not copy to my sent folder due to network or file access errors. I could open and read all the other emails in my Inbox, just not three new ones. So I selected Inbox properties and repair. After the repair, my inbox is completely empty. It had thousands of messages. When I do a search for common emails I know were in my inbox, it only shows emails from subfolders. When I go to Inbox properties, it says number of messages: 0

Is there any chance I could talk with someone? Or that someone would call me? I'm not experienced in Thunderbird or email settings. And I don't like having to do it online. Richard Higgins Concord Mass

I was away from the computer for a few days until Dec 9. I have now found while I can open the program, it doesn't work correctly. At first, it wouldn't delete emails from the inbox. Now, in addition to not deleting the emails from the inbox, it won't download new emails from my ISP server. I checked the server settings and they appear to be correct. I can send a test email to myself and receive it at my ISP email server, but Thunderbird won't download it. I am using what I believe is the current version of the program (Version 140.6.0esr (64 bit). I am not a computer literate person and don't know what I need to do to fix the problem. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Deleted emails keep reappearing!

When I delete emails, they do disappear from Inbox or a folder that I have stuck them in. But as soon as I click on ALL MAIL, it starts downloading all 4,000 of them again. Do I have a setting wrong? I want them to delete completely - from gmail and from my instance of Thunderbird. I've gone through them all TWICE now and deleted them, just to have them reappear and it's driving me nuts.

Some inbox entries cannot be deleted. When deletion is attempted the body text is removed but the Subject and Correspondent remain in the Inbox and the message is marked as unread. This seems to be mainly with email originating from Outlook. Tried restarting Thunderbird but no change. Is there a setting that might do this?

How do I download all my messages from my on-line server (hostek.net) to my computer

I've just installed Thunderbird on my computer, and I want to download my messages from the server to the hard drive on my computer and delete all but the most recent from the server. I have already installed Thunderbird, I just can't find out how to download the messages.

I was happily using TB 78.14.0 on Mac OS 10.9.5 and I switched to using TB 140.6 on Mac OS 12.7.4, and it's now unusably slow. I've tried: troubleshoot mode with add-ons off; compacting folders; removing and renewing msf files; emptying junk and trash. Is there anything else, or is this just a failure or incompatibility of the app? I can't see that there's any antivirus app that might be interfering. Can something go wrong when you export the files from one TB into another? I would be grateful for any suggestions. Tim

For the last two day when I start Thunderbird I get the message "The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The email server for account [edited]@herrinonline.net responded: expecting ")" instead of "(".

This is happening with all 4 email addresses I have. 3 on ionos and 1 on gmail.

I have checked all the settings for the Ionos webmail server and the Gmail server and they are correct. I have deleted of of the accounts and recreated it but still get the same message.

Attached is a capture of the actual error message. If I try to synch with any of the email addresses I get the same message for that email

Can you offer any help?

As my subject states, I am a long-time TBird user - not a wizard or expert, but technically savvy. Now ... with version 140.0.1esr (64-bit), I cannot create a new account as easily as I once did on prior versions.

To be clear, my policy has always been to create new accounts for "A, B, C, and D" for each new year like what you see, left to right, in "Image-1." That has made it the easiest for any research about prior received or sent messages.

Attempting to do that now doesn't work. I put info in every panel; I setup for POP3 and enter a new password; then click Continue and get the message you see, left to right, in "Image-2."  :-(

I could really use some specific, successful advice ... PLEASE!  :-)

I realize this is a lousy day for advice!!  :-(
