flash player never never completes installation - saysFirefox needs to be closed

Have tried to install Adobe Flash Player 11.0 several times. However, it stops installing at about 47% complete and the pop up window tells me to close Firefox. When I try that, it also closes the installation of Adobe. I have tried restarting the computer but the problems remains. How can I correct this?

Try the full installer from adobe.
