Everytime I close a tab a new blank tab opens on its own.
Hi, I'm using firefox 6.0.2 and it's been a while that I'm experiencing this new problem. When I open firefox and start browsing it works fine but after a short while (I don't know, maybe 15min,30min or an hour) of using the problem appears.
When I click the little X to close a tab (i.e:google.com or facebook.com) It closes the tab (sometimes I have to click 2-3 times) but a new blank tab opens itself. clicking the X of the new blank tab will do no change (1blank tab closes, 1 new comes). This way I will have tons of blank pages while I browse.
I did not install any plugin or extension. Maybe they updated themselves. I'm using Avast Free Home Edition and it's updated every day.

First, you should update fro Firefox 6 to Firefox 12. Firefox 6 is open to many known security holes that place you, your computer and your personal information at risk. Plus, Firefox 12 is faster and more stable with lots of bugs worked out.
If it still doesn't work in Firefox 12, try in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. It may be one of your extensions causing the issue.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
