I find the way icons are constantly messed with, every time I visit a site e.g Wikipedia, the icon is inserted in my list. Then getting rid of them seems to take forever.

Am I missing something because it seems totally ridiculous the way the icons are done,

Yes Hi.

You have the home page set to Firefox Home (default) and there in you have choices.
