Can't log in to Firefox on my new Linux Mint. It's asking 2FA but I can't see it on authenicator

I Can't log in to my for Firefox on my new Linux Mint laptop. It's asking 2FA but I can't see it on my proton authenicator. My username and password are ok. Then the 2FA box pops up asking me for the 2FA code. And I can't log in now to sync my Android Firefox with my Linux Mint Firefox. I recall setting up 2FA some years ago on Proton but don't recall ever using g it other than one. Can you please help?

If you’ve gotten locked out of your two-step authentication login, you can use one of your previously saved backup authentication codes to securely regain access to your account. Alternatively, if you have a device still signed in to your account, you can use that device to disable two-factor authentication, so you can sign in to your account without two-step authentication.

When you activated it you created a recovery method for your Mozilla account. This is required to complete two-step authentication (2FA) setup. Do you have any of these?

Backup authentication codes – a list of one-time use codes to save in a secure location. Recovery phone – a phone number that can receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS if you lose access to your authenticator app.

More info What if I'm locked out of Two-Step Authentication?

Thank you for your prompt reply and guidance on this George. Much appreciated. I am logged into my Firefox account on my Android mobile device. I will check my options there.

I can access my Proton 2FA app. Issue there is that Firefox is not listed there. I can can only see othe accounts there but Firefox isn't listed anymore for some reason.

I will also check if I can use my phone for OTP.

If nothing works I will revert here again..Thanks.

Kind Regards Stavros
