How do I get rid of these Pocket stuff, where food/culture/trend articles come from.

Mozilla shut down Pocket last year, so I'm assuming you mean the stories on a blank tab. Go to Firefox settings -> Home -> uncheck "Recommended stories"

You can also click on the pencil icon in the bottom right corner of the tab with the stories to unselect "Recommended stories"
