Trying to clean up my inbox and all mail folders. Sort on correspondent, highlight the culprits, "shift-delete" to permanently delete (I'm told) and they disappear (not in trash) yay. The next day they are back. What am I doing wrong?

Deleted emails go to the Gmail All Mail folder. Try unsubscribing to it:

- on the main mail screen in the L. column, R. click the account (just above the Inbox) > Subscribe > uncheck All Mail > OK
