WINDOWS AND TABS OPEN BEFORE UPDATE TO VERSION 137.0.2 (64-bit) DISAPPEARED AFTER THE UPDATE

Firefox closed the browser for an automatic update two days ago, and when it came up back after the update all my open windows and tabs simply disappeared. History tab was reset to a blank page, there was no trace of anything. I tried the access through 'Menu / History / Recently closed windows' or '.../ Recently closed tabs' and they were both blank, empty, zero, nada ... This is the first time it happens to me, and I'm surprised and disappointed that such a predictable and basic bug shows up on an update.

I have a couple dozen tabs I use for task f-ups, it' unproductive and annoying to get them all back up to work. If this happens again I doubt I keep using Firefox as my preferred browser.

  1. Anybody else suffering the same issue?
  2. Is there a cure for the problem?

I'm having a similar problem.

Since 137.0 I've been using Tab Groups. Yet, lately - probably since 137.0.2 - neither the Tab Groups nor pinned tabs open upon start. I can access Groups via 'List all Tabs'. Pinned tab websites have to be opened and repinned.

I followed [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-already-running-not-respondi...] 'Check access rights'. 'Read-Only' was checked. I unchecked, applied, and closed but the change does not persist. Each reopening the 'Read-Only' attribute is, again, checked.

jonzn4SUSE - I did check user profile(s), one was not recent and was fairly empty, the other had files dated of today, so it's not what I'm missing. Thanks for trying anyway!

In the sessionstore-backups folder, is there a file dated before your issue? Here's a pic of mine, you can see that if needed, I can go back to different dates. see screenshot If there are only files with recent dates, then yes, game over. I've seen that before with Nightly. It erased all the file in the folder and had only recent files with only the current session.

That's why I make copies of the session-store folder. see screenshots I'll erase the current copy and make a new copy now.

Would you happen to have your data on another device?

I'm having the same issue. I couldn't fix it so I just uninstalled FF and switched to chrome.

Actually not... I did check if there were eventually other profiles with "sessionstore-backups" folders, but the only I've found dated back to mid 2024 ...

Guess it's time to throw the towell for me. Thanks for trying anyway!

If you no further questions, mark it as resolved and have a good day.

There was no real "solution" for the issue, but it doesn't look like there will be one. So let's call it a bug, and leave it as it is. Thanks to those who've brought their knowledge to the matter !!

I agree. This first happened to me 4 or 5 years ago and that's what brought me to this site. If no further questions, mark it as resolved and have nice day.

In addition to pinned tabs not persisting, the first opening of FF after boot crashes. Subsequent openings don't crash.

Apparently, a second desktop had gotten opened. As soon as I closed the multiple desktop the pinned tabs persist. Neither does firefox crash upon first opening after boot.

However, I still can't get tab groups to persist between sessions.
