USA today sending notifications. cannot disable.
www.usatoday.com Keeps sending notifications through Mozilla. when I click on "disable notifications" it only opens up a new tab to the site. I checked my homepage settings and as far as i know i have not installed a USA today extension. How do I make this go away? I would straight up block the domain if I knew how.
I found it in privacy /security> notifications and eliminated the website. This may have fixed the issue? I do not recall ever allowing the site to give notifications in the first place. is there a way to lock this domain out completely?
Chosen solution
1. Remove Notifications Permission
Since you've already found the notifications settings and removed USA Today, that should stop the notifications. To double-check:
Open Firefox and click on the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the upper right corner. Select "Settings" (or "Options"). In the left sidebar, click on "Privacy & Security." Scroll down to the "Permissions" section and find "Notifications." Click on the "Settings..." button next to Notifications. Ensure that www.usatoday.com is not listed there. If it is, remove it.
2. Block the Website Completely
If you want to block the website entirely, you can do so by using the built-in features of Firefox or by using an extension: Method 1: Block the Site in Firefox
Open Firefox and type about:preferences#privacy in the address bar. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section. Click on "Settings..." next to "Notifications." If you want to block the site from sending notifications, you can also add it to the "Block" list if you see an option for it.
Method 2: Use a Block Site Extension
You can use an extension to block specific websites:
Go to the Firefox Add-ons page: Firefox Add-ons Search for a site-blocking extension, such as "Block Site" or "uBlock Origin." Install the extension and follow the instructions to block www.usatoday.com.
3. Clear Cookies and Cache
If you want to ensure that any previous permissions or settings are cleared, you can also clear cookies and cache:
Click on the menu button and select "Settings." In the left sidebar, click on "Privacy & Security." Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section and click on "Clear Data..." Select both options and click "Clear."
4. Check for Extensions
If you suspect that you might have an extension related to USA Today that you don’t remember installing:
Click on the menu button and select "Add-ons and Themes." Go to the "Extensions" tab and look for any extensions related to USA Today or that you don’t recognize. Disable or remove any suspicious extensions.
5. Reset Firefox (if necessary)
If you continue to have issues and want to start fresh, you can reset Firefox:
Click on the menu button and select "Help." Choose "More Troubleshooting Information." Click on the "Refresh Firefox" button. This will reset Firefox to its default state while saving your bookmarks and passwords.
By following these steps, you should be able to stop notifications from USA Today and block the site if desired. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask

I found it troubling that the {windows side) notification pop up would trigger a new tab , when clearly clicking the "disable notifications" option there.
Problem appears to be solved using your instruction. Thank you very much.
