about:config video.autoplay.default=5 not working on mac on some pages

Cannot prevent intrusive unwanted video on some pages; notably, CTV.ca which has an annoying widget which autoplays constantly and blockers are not effective, neither is video.autoplay.default=5 That USED to be the default no-fail go-to, now it has no effect whatsoever and I'm stymied in my attempts to block this stuff. What's next? How do i do this?

You can stop videos autoplaying after interaction by changing media.autoplay.blocking_policy to 2 but this can break video on some sites. It would be better to block the widget itself using uBlock Origin's element picker tool.
