I have several pinned tabs.

For some reason, the Instagram tab keeps unpinning, I have no idea why and I have not found any solutions in forum threads.

For clarity, all of my pinned tabs re-open and the tabs are in the same pinned order on starting up Firefox as they were when I closed it, apart from the Instagram one. It has come out of the pinned area where it was amongst the other pinned tabs and is always there as an unpinned tab, on the right hand side of all the pinned tabs.

If i right click it, I get an option to pin, Once pinned, if i right click, I get the option to unpin, so it's definetly there as an unpinned tab. This only stated happening recently, prior to that there was no issue. It only happens with the Instagram tab, all others remain as they were

Has anyone else got this isue and is there a fix?

TIA

Derek

Are you possibly using containers ?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

(As a footnote, the Facebook Container extension covers Instagram as well as FB's main site.)

This short video explains the behaviour better - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muux0KigHEE It's only happening to one tab, Instagram, and only halppens in this browser

I'm having this same problem. A few weeks ago, Facebook and Instagram started unpinning every morning when I open Firefox. I have tried syncing the tabs, unpinning and repinning everything, updating my browser, etc. Nothing works. I have about 20 tabs pinned, and everything else stays pinned.

Do you use the Facebook Container extension? It seems to be a problem with pinned tabs that need to be handled by that extension.

I'm having this problem also. Problem appears to have started with 86.0.1. I'm using the FB container extension. Note: The FB tab does not unpin.

Does it happen at every start up or was it a one time unpinning after the update?

The update had a fix to a problem of lost tabs reported by users of the Simple Tab Groups extension. I don't know whether that fix affected pinned tabs.

Happens on every startup! I'll pin the tab again - on the next start it opens in an unpinned tab.

I'm not sure how it came about because I gave up looking for a fix but it seems to have resolved and the tab stays pinned as from a couple of nights ago. It was only ever the Instagram tab that was affected, Facebook stayed pinned as did all of the others which number around 20. I have on every occassion I re-pin the tab, I then move it to where it sat amongst the open tabs. But for about a week before it resolved, I was just leaving it as the last pinned tab. But since it resolved I have moved it again and so far it has stayed in place and pinned
