How do I restore previous session tabs when they are lost?

After Firefox was accidentally shut down, a program re-opened it and now the previous session can't be restored. I need to see the tabs I had open in the previous session. I have a upgrade.jsonlz4-build_id file that I can restore to an earlier point that will have that info.

Can you please give me step-by-step instructions on how to restore the upgrade.jsonlz4-build_id file?
