I am trying to use Firefox Sync. On the sign in page I enter my email and password and get a message saying that a valid email address is required.
The problem is outlined above. The email address is good and I usually have no problem with it and have synced my other computers.

Your using NEW SYNC, So register your email ID one more time to Mozilla SYNC Server and validate your email ID by verifying the email address.
OLD SYNC method uses the KEY option for recover, in that mozilla faced too many issue, so we shifted to newer one.
